Television Diet

Studies of American scientists have proved the connection between watching TV (in fact, a sedentary activity that burns fewer calories than reading a book or talking on the phone) and weight gain. Hardly anyone doubts that overweight has a negative effect on human health. It has long been a proven fact that weight gain contributes to the development of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other diseases. In addition, during the study it was proved that people who spend a lot of time watching television often suffer from insomnia, which is also associated with obesity.

Scientists have discovered a new way to maintain weight – the so-called television diet. It is enough to introduce small changes in the daily diet and eat a hundred calories less than before to avoid being overweight. No exercise and no eating restrictions!

The means for preserving a beautiful figure can be the reduction in the amount of time a person spends watching the favorite TV shows and serials.

Adult Americans spend on television, on average, five hours a day. Russians, according to statistics, have not far gone from this figure: adult residents of Russia devote a TV about four hours a day, that is sixty days a year.

Thirty-six people participated in the experiment, whose body mass index was from twenty-five (overweight) to fifty (extreme obesity). All participants of the experiment admitted that they spend about three hours a day at the TV. The essence of the experiment was as follows. Twenty experimental subjects installed a special device in the TV, which strictly limited the work of the device, reducing the viewing time by half. The remaining sixteen people continued to watch TV in their mode. For three weeks, while the experiment lasted, all the people involved in it wore special bracelets that measured and recorded their physical activity and caloric intake. In addition, the participants themselves recorded all the dishes they used. Researchers noted that people from the first group, which limited the time watching TV, burned one hundred and nineteen calories more, and ate ninety-five calories less than people from the second group. For twenty-one days of the experiment, people from the first group lost weight, on average, about six hundred grams.

Conclusion make yourself. You can continue to sit for hours at the TV and suffer because of extra pounds, or you can just limit the time that you devote to this “box”.
